The design of this project involves three main programs - Ferry Landing, Museum and a Public Space. The Museum further narrows down as a Planetarium and Observatory. The inspiration for this project came from the astronomical principles, invoking an experience of orbital motion. Further, the Ferry and the Public space explore the different forms of outdoor and indoor. The overall project deals with circle as a form, creating enclosure through columns.
There are three principal programs - The observatory, half sphere and the oculus. Each form is specifically designed for the program within it. The half sphere gives an experience of indoor virtual reality which serves as the planetarium. The observation decks at the upper level gives both indoor and outdoor experience. Finally, the oculus traces the path of sun and unites with water at a specific time of the day. Further, the connecting volume among these three principal forms teaches the visitors, the formation of constellations through its architecture. Overall the project tracks the sun, the moon and the stars reminding the visitors about the conception that time originates in distant astronomical objects .
